The Le Lay family founded a distillery on the edge of the village of Plomelin in 1927. 2002 marked the birth of a whisky it calls “Eddu” meaning ‘black wheat’ in the Breton language and it is the only whisky in the world made entirely from buckwheat.
“Eddu Silver” is the result of a double distillation in an open-fired still, giving it pretensions to nobility and refinement. The long maturation period of each distillation is carried out in oak casks. Its colours are amber and gold and its seductive and voluptuous floral aromas are redolent of roses and heather. It also has notes of honey, vanilla, nutmeg and orange bark.
“Eddu Silver” may be savoured on its own or over ice.
